Hope

It has taken a little bit of time but this morning Hope came walking out of her room, using the wall of course but she was walking while wearing her night garments.  Until this point she has only been able to crawl when she wore them.  Next step is letting go of the wall!!  She has been spotted a few times not holding onto anything as she stands but then she realizes it and falls.

Compression stockings

All 3 of the girls have now received not only their daytime compression stockings but have nighttime garments as well!!!  The girls are doing much now sleeping through the night.  Grace has Lymphedema the worst and so her garments go all the way up her legs, she is having the hardest time getting used to them.  She cries a lot at first but once she falls asleep she is out for the count.

I know that over time all the girls will get more used to them and it will become just habit to have them on.  Like anything especially with them being so little it takes time.
We would like to thank Nancy and her sister at EZ Medical Wraps for making them their night garments and to helping us all get some more sleep.  If you know of anyone that has Lymphedema and needs garments I highly recommend contacting Nancy.

I have changed the settings of the blog

I have changed the settings of the blog to be a private paid blog.  Most insurance companies do not yet recognize Lymphedema as a serious illness and therefore do not cover a lot of the medical needs that go along with having Lymphedema.  My intention with this blog is not only give you the reader updates on my girls but also to educate you on lymphedema and to provide recipes that I have found to work.
I hope you choose to come along and follow our family as we continue to "Lymphie Life to the Fullest."

Recipe: dairy free fudgesicles & cheerio, peanut butter treats

It can be difficult to find yummy treats that is part of the girls diet. I feel bad that they can't just eat anything without being in pain. With summer coming and living in Arizona I am constantly looking for cold treats for the girls. Today I tried dairy free fudgesicles, after all who doesn't like chocolate?

 DAIRY FREE FUDGESICLES
1 can full fat coconut milk
1 cup almond milk
3 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp liquid stevia or maple syrup, honey, agave nectar

Put everything in the blender and mix. Once you have it all mixed together then pour in Popsicle molds and freeze.

Next I made Cheerios, peanut butter treats. The girls can't have marshmallows unless I make vegan ones. My husband was looking in the pantry and there was quite a bit of Cheerios so then I got online to figure out a snack to make for them. I ended up make cheerio treats.

CHEERIO TREATS
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
3 cups Cheerios

Put the honey and peanut butter in a pot and mix together til it's all melted. Once it's all melted mix in the Cheerios. Pour in an 8 x 8 pan and chill in the refrigerator for an hour.

Hope you enjoy these!!
